Hence my interest in finding out about this programme which I have never watched.
Interestingly though, some observations of the Moon were taking place during the transit in 2012 to determine the dimming effect due to the transit. This is part of a programme to improve the detection of Exo-planets.
Now, I must find a copy of this episode and get an excerpt to remind him at the next conference. ;-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18199142733119134631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9163501679982013672.post-33765919112636240912013-05-21T20:35:41.854+10:002013-05-21T20:35:41.854+10:00"Like a lot of observatories around the world..."Like a lot of observatories around the world, it was build outside of a city, but the cities have grown around them."

As the American tourist visiting England said, "Nice castle, but why did you build it so close to the airport?"
Phillip Helbighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12067585245603436809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9163501679982013672.post-25242614650687691482013-05-20T08:07:45.115+10:002013-05-20T08:07:45.115+10:00You are definitely an Aussie Geraint. I never knew it existed - and I grew up near Oakwood Park, shown only an inch to the right of the Observatory on the map! It's encouraging that the ULO is in constant use, even in such a heavily light polluted region. I would be ecstatic if MAS could build an observatory like that here!

:)

Ggreybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14936927497649860045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9163501679982013672.post-37485331367784458822013-05-18T14:59:35.306+10:002013-05-18T14:59:35.306+10:00"I'm sure his knowledge of the uncertaint..."I'm sure his knowledge of the uncertainty principle will help him in prison."

Maybe there is some consolation in the small probability that he will be able to tunnel through the walls.Brendon J.
